Zoo-med Foods
I was just looking around last night on the Internet and I found a site that had different bags of Zoo-med food for different species of reptiles. Now normally I know not to feed my hermit crabs different reptiles food, but when I was looking at some of these and looked at the ingredients,it seemed OK.

Re: Zoo-med Foods
Keep in mind that the salmon meal in the hermit crab food is treated with an antioxidant—either ethoxyquin, BHT, or a tocopherol.
I have not reached out to Zoo Med so I do not know what their suppliers use.

Since the topic came up I took the opportunity to email Zoo Med. We’ll see how they respond.JoeHermits wrote:Keep in mind that the salmon meal in the hermit crab food is treated with an antioxidant—either ethoxyquin, BHT, or a tocopherol.

I have also heard from other crabbers that if it contains the ingredient fish meal that most companies that make the fish mill put ethoxyquin in it.
Edit: I have been using the turtle flower topper and about to order some zoomed repticalcium

Re: Zoo-med Foods
Zoo Med finally got back to me.
Looks like the canned food has ethoxyquin. I wouldn’t be surprised if that extended to their other products, as well.

I was mainly curious about the flowers. There’s a turtle one and a lizard one that are slightly different

All of those flowers are safe. I haven’t seen the other blends but they should be fine, as well.
