Hairs - about to molt?

Post by SantiClout » Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:36 pm

I have a new P.P that has never molted in my possession. He has thick bundles of hair around some joints but I read that he should have those after molting. The thing is, he has all of the signs that he is soon to molt (ie. brown eyes, pale coloration, digging holes etc) I’m super confused! Is he about to molt?

Some hair will remain at all times, especially that thick claw beard on the inside joint. They never go completely bald! Crabs in captivity who are enjoying a cushy life may not loose much at all - compared to wild crabs who often have a lot worn away by the time their next molt comes around.
