Tank decor

Post by Pumpkincrab » Mon Nov 23, 2020 10:07 pm

Hi guys!
Around Christmas time I am upgrading my crab's tank (hopefully) to a 40gal.
I already have a good amount of decor in my 16gal tote, but I am hoping to buy more stuff with my Christmas money for the new tank.
What would be some good stuff to add? I want this to be their tank for a few years, before they get bigger, so I want it to look nice and keep them happy. Thanks!

Hi!! I’m not sure what you already have in their tank now, but I would suggest a nice piece of cork round (they come in small, medium, large and extra large sizes on Amazon) - they love to climb in it, around it, and even eat the bark!! Also, definitely a Sphagnum Moss pit and a foraging bowl that has leaves and flowers (you can get these off Etsy) - every crab is different, but all 6 of mine hit up that forage bowl every day!

I love lots of greenery, makes it look like a mini jungle and they love to climb on it and hide in it!

The one thing I really want whenever I upgrade again & have more room is a wheel for them to walk on. :D I would probably add in more cork rounds and fake plants/vines as well. It's really no different than a smaller set-up, you just have room for MORE of the same. Hope your crabbies enjoy their upgrade.

Omg I got a small hamster “saucer” for mine that I had in the tank before I redecorated it the other day.. When I got it, I really thought “they’re not gonna use this thing.” I TOTALLY recommend the saucer!! Once the crabs figured out what it was and started walking, there was a crab on it day AND night - and sometimes the same hermie for hours!! Image. Makes sense since they walk long distances in nature, but even I was tired watching them!! Image
