Good Evening Crab family!
I have 4 PP in a 50 gallon tank. I started them off trying the PPS method and sadly lost a crab after a shell fight and surface molt so decided after a week to increase my substrate to 10 inches to let them do their thing. They promptly vanished beneath the earth. I understand they need to de-stress and could be potentially molting so am just feeding and watering the tank. There were some tracks and signs of eating/bathing the first week but I am entering week 3 of no crab activity. I can hear them clanking against the glass so know they are alive. I don't know if they would be classed as small or medium but they are in 1 inch opening shells. If they have all been deprived of the opportunity to molt they could well all be at it under there? So I could be looking at a few months before someone rears their head ?

Yes, they could be molting. Or they could just be de-stressing. Hard to say, and only time will tell, LOL.

Yes it is likely they are molting. Many pet stores don't have good conditions for crabs to molt so they might be trying to molt now. They could also be destressing as said above. Good Luck!
