HELP! Mold problem

Post by Alexahunter10 » Fri Sep 03, 2021 5:06 pm

Hi! I’m newer to this but I have never had this problem before. Everything in my tank is growing this white fuzzy mold. Not the decor, because I soaked all of it in salt water and baked it.. but any food and even the foraging mix is molding and it’s only been a week. I havnt ever heard of foraging mix molding this fast. I’m not sure what to do, but everything I put in there molds within a day. The humidity ranges from 75-80 no giant spikes at all.

Sounds like you lack air circulation. A few extra air holes or even cracking the lid a bit will do.

Otherwise detritivores such as mites or springtails can help eat food before it molds. Springtails will even feed on the spores themselves.

I have heard about using springtails! Do you have any advice on How to add them to an already existing tank, and where do I get them?

You’ll have to get them either at a specialty pet store or online. They’ll be housed in a charcoal culture, just pour the whole thing in.

I don’t need to remove any decor or anything? Just put them in?
