Aussie Zoea 2021

This area is dedicated to the pioneers who have captive bred crabs, and for those who wish to learn more or attempt it themselves. Also for inquiring about the gender of your crabs.

Well this attempt has gone the same way as my previous one a few weeks ago. Almost total loss on day 3. The only difference between this time and previous successful attempts is that I am using Continuum Fraction as water treatment instead of Seachem PRIME. That was the main difference last time as well.

Live and learn. There will be other batches.
Important observation! It may be too late for this batch, but definitely let us know if future attempts with PRIME go better than the CF. Best wishes!

Day 10 and I have 1 mega. It is moving around and I have seen a gut tract so it is eating. Interested in shells but not chosen one yet. I've switched to Prime and am continuing with the attempt. Even just one more captive bred is a success. PLUS its all learning and I know I won't be using CF as water treatment for my babies again.... unless with a small test group to see if that actually is the issue.

My lord! That's a website with -- attitude, shall we say. Glad they are so enthusiastic.

Well it is now day 11 and sometime overnight the single mega lost its fight for life. Never mind there will be more babies in the future. It put up a valiant fight and I was beginning to think it would make it. Then yesterday evening it looked quite weak and helpless so I was not surprised to find it lifeless in the jar this morning.
