Bugs on hermit crabs

Bugs on hermit crabs

My friend’s hermit crab has little white bugs crawling on him. It looks like food mites, but I was wondering if they crawl on them or it’s something else.

Yes, food mites will crawl over anything that is in their way. The bugs that require a closer look are any that are locked into place on the crab, as they may be feeding. Things that are moving or found elsewhere in the tank are generally harmless.

Oh okay, thank you so much! It definitely look likes food kites and I never saw them crawl oh hermit crabs before. Thank you for the advice!

Sometimes they hitch a ride on Hermit crabs to find more food easier.
