Crabs on Ebay????

Has anyone ever bought hermit crabs off ebay?? Isn't that sort of rough on the crabs?? I was browsing hermit crabs thinking I would see supplies/toys and there are real crabs on there!!

I've seen them but I think that is strictly apposed to it here, OR anywhere!

I could go on but...Small children may be present.

It is not allowed for ebay to be selling hermit crabs, and they have been taking any off that get reported. I don't think it is a good idea to buy the crabs from there.

I would not buy any crabs off ebay... I was thinking something was wrong with that?? I had never heard of such a thing...In fact I don't even think I am going to buy supplies because some of the people selling supplies on there are possibly selling crabs too!!! I think that is mean! Should I report it?? Does ebay forbid it?

You can report them but unless they are breaking the shipping rules, they wont end them. They lump the crabs in with the sea animals that are allowed to be sold on ebay such as fish, marine snails, ect. The only way you can get them to end them is if they are shipping anything other than overnight.

There is nothing wrong with having hermit crabs shipped directly to you----if you get them from the pet store, well, guess what? They were shipped to the pet store at one point. But you need to be sure you're dealing with a reputable shipper. ONLY overnight shipping is acceptable, and you'll want to be sure the crabs were cared for properly before you get them.

We bought some from those people and had them overnighted. We did not have any troubles and they are very healthy. I was happy with them.

I guess I wasn't familiar with shipping. Obviously they could be shipped overnight and there was a point about them being shipped to the pet store! Thank you for all the viewpoints on this, I am one of those people who like to be educated on everything!! It drives my family crazy!!!!
