The first time I was nominated for rep, in my "campaign speech" thread, I actually said I probably wouldn't be that good, and you should vote for Laura_B instead :) Surprisingly some people voted for me anyway, but Laura won!

The second time, Laura didn't want to be a rep anymore, so I had no competition to endorse (if only indecision 2008 worked that way). Surprisingly, the poll still had to have 2 options, JMT and "Nobody". And "nobody" still got 4 votes! Ha I still love that. Just a few more votes, and the membership would have decided they'd rather have no rep than me as a rep. :D

Note.. my post was dripping with sarcasm.. incase I offended anyone, or anyone thought I was being agressive or true.. I have no want to be a mod or rep.. too many reasons why, and too many mods that know stories.. and cides.. I'd rather let.. them people who have the capicity to be nice.. and loving.. and caring.. and so forth do it.. like Thrash! He rules. :P

[smilie=puppydogeyes.gif] I didn't ask to be a mod...they MADE me do it!!! :smt064 :smt079 :smt065 :smt044
:( All kidding aside y'all, being in a position of "power" is not all it's cracked up to be. It's kind of like being an "online mommy": Clean up after the kids, tell them that they can't say bad words, tell them to play nicely w/one another, ask them nicely to clean up their room...and what do ya get for all of that: :shock: They get mad at you or hate you. :cry: Yeah, they do get over it (or not) & maybe they grow out of it & [smilie=fingerscrossed.jpg] figure it out before ya feel like a total slug. Don't get me wrong, I love it here more than anyone can possibly know. But it's because we have some really great people here who just want to share their experiences, joyful & sorrowful ones. I truly do wish that our little world that we've created here can remain the warm, friendly, family environment that Christa created. [smilie=grouphug.gif]
:wink: Btw, I've been on here 3 times today & even posted. Been playing catch up since I've been ill. :) I also have a husband & a baby to take care of, & still have to feed all the hermies (after doing a general clean on all 3 tats) before they totally go bonkers. Haven't had a food dish in any of the tats for about 2 hours now & the natives are getting restless! :lol:
PS. If I was too harsh in the above, I'm truly sorry. [smilie=bouquet.gif]
I march to the beat of a different drummer...did I mention my husband is a drummer!

Oh, I wasn't offended, I laughed because it really did remind me of me. :P Patience and subtlety are definitely not two of my stronger virtues. My dad tells people I have all the tact of a ten lb. sledge. :smt021

Then between us, we're a perfectly matched pair! I have "all the subtlety of a runaway train." :laughing5:

I've been and still am a mod for an online chat and I couldn't agree more. It takes a great deal of patience, understanding and a generally "positive" attitude some days.

That said, in my experience as a mod elsewhere, I can tell you that it is very time consuming. When I am moding, I have almost no time to actually chat in the room. I spend the entire night censoring and ensuring that chatters conform to the chat rules. It's not a pleasant job. You get yelled at, sworn at, reported to your fellow mods for booting them in the first place because they weren't conforming to rules after numerous warnings ranging from polite at first to eventually straight up "adhere to the rules or I will have to boot you and will ban you for a period of time if you don't adhere in the future. This is your last warning."... Then the other mods get yelled at for supporting your decision... etc. etc. etc.

It is a tough position to hold and all of you are doing a wonderful job of it. Kudos to you all.

Didn't realize all that went into being a mod. I guess I'm a perfect candidate. Besides a lack of subtlety, as many of you already know I also possess only a modicum of tact.

It takes quite a while to archive posts. Its one of the most time consuming things for me on here for sure when I do archive. This morning Crab Behavior had 700+ topics and I got it down to the 500 range. The archives are really great sources of information, great sections to search/read through.

I'm actually on here a lot, usually about an hour or two a day--except on days/times when my life gets rather hectic. I rarely have time to post much on the forums anymore when I am here though because I'm too busy doing behind the scenes moderating stuff and it takes up most of my free time to be online.

The archiving is very time consuming, especially the Pictures thread. It took me 2 hours to archive 1 page worth of topics! And there is still 3 pages to go! [smilie=faint.gif]

I didn't accept the first time I was nominated for Pacific Rep, then next election, chkbythesea did not want to be a rep anymore and no one else was running, so I accepted. As with JMT, the election for Pacific Rep was between me and "nobody". And just like with JMT, "nobody" got 4 votes for Pacific Rep!!! Who is this "nobody"? He/she should campaign and run for real next time! :lol:
