Last week I found frozen mini crabs sold at an Asian seafood store which were very inexpensive. I quartered them and served them as is (albeit slightly thawed with the microwave). The crabs loved them and especially liked picking through the roe of a couple. My smallest hermie, Bully, even took a piece and carried it up the climbing rock, to the back of the tank, and then down into his/her burrow...wow. Most amazing sight of hermit avarice I've ever seen...

Then again, it is Bully...

hmmmm... joel .... feeding crab to crabs??!!?? :D

Today my hermies are having Rosepetal Omelet. It's gorgeous here in Northern California and all my roses are blooming! So I scrambled an egg with the shell in it and added fresh rosepetals from the Peace Rose, the Tropicana and the Lady Banks. Added some fresh blackberry leaves for good measure. For an after dinner snack I'm offering fresh grape leaves with oats and raw blackberry honey. This dinner smelled almost good enough for me to take a bite!!

Mashed banana, river shrimp, strawberry, celery leaves, and mushroom. I saw a few eating earlier, so I know they liked something in there. Probably the shrimp, they always go nuts over it.

hehe joel - I could picture a crab shaking his claw in the air screaming in Charlton Heston's voice: "Soylent Green is..... CRABS!!!" (made me laugh!)

Anyway - tonight my crabbies are having a PB & J:
THHC's Golden Goose flatbread spread with natural sugar & salt-free peanutbutter and mashed strawberries. Yum!

Old fish I had in the freezer wrapped in spinach and microwaved for 5 seconds, a few scraps of sweet potato, sprinkled with chopped chives and crushed spirulina.

Menu

So, I've been reading the menus from y'all... and thinking to myself "You've got to be kidding!"... "Those Hermie's eat better than I do!"

So this morning I made myself some french toast and thought... why not! I'll give them a little treat and see what happens... They loved it, and I saw four of them munching away on the piece as the day progressed.

OK... I'm not going to make sushi for them (I don't even eat it)... but you've won me over and I'll be making a special treat for them from time to time!

I am now a believer!
