I just love looking around your store! I may be buying in the future (need that thing called money first xD). I looked through your galleries and it is so pretty where you are. And can I just say...-49 is COLD I think my mouth literally dropped when I saw that The website is really easy to navigate and the products look awesome, so congrats and I hope you continue to be successful

I have to wait a bit. I want to get new tank lids first. How long will you have things like the moose poop in stock?

Just wanted to say, love the pic of your dog in the sombrero. That pic cracks me up.

Thanks very much! Good to hear it's easy to navigate. I was worried about that.
Moose poop will probably never run out unless somebody orders a ton of it. I haven't found any good piles yet this fall, but come winter time, the good ones are easy to spot. And they are plentiful. Wouldn't worry about me running out of moose poop.
That's so strange about the slug because I have never seen a slug in Fairbanks! I bet it came off of a piece of wood I put in the isopod tank that I got from Kentucky like a few days before then. So it's probably a Kentucky slug. He's getting to see the world! Glad you don't mind him. A bit embarrassed about that.

hahaha! such a well travelled slug! his name is now Magellan.
hmmmm I hope the instant ocean I put in the coco fiber doesn't kill him
say cheese Magellan!
EDIT: yep, I think he's a Deroceras laeve slug which is really common in Kentucky, especially in woodlands.

I haven't brought myself to feeding them the poop yet. My boyfriend thinks I'm insane for purchasing poop for our babies. He's made all kinds of horrible jokes.
I'll be a frequent customer for sure, since I work so much it's far easier to buy the food already prepared and ready to put in the tank. Thank you so much for making my life so much easier! The clan thanks you as well, they love the duck.

Re: Alaska Hermit food store open for business! :D
Surprisingly enough, I got the box today! Somehow it got delivered to my husband's mothers PO box and ended up going home with his children to his ex-wife's house. I am so incredibly peeved at the post office it's not funny. Especially since I had this feeling it was going to arrive today and was checking the mailbox every five minutes. He got home an hour after I had fed them for the night, too. Grrr.
But you packed it beautifully and everything arrived in perfect condition! The guppies are going crazy over the big clam shell, and the crabs will be getting a feast with their next feeding. Thank you!!
(The moose poop is really light. It's rather unnerving!)

Wow! That got there quick for parcel post! Weird it went to a different address though... Pretty sure I had the right address on there...right? But glad it made it to you in the end. Hope they like the poops and stuff!
Wondered what you were going to use that clam shell for. It's so cool, right!? I've always wanted to collect them but never had a reason. I meant to bring back a bunch to Fairbanks, but I accidentally left them in a pile on the beach. I didn't know guppies could go crazy.

Re: Alaska Hermit food store open for business! :D
You had the address perfect. Apparently the people who work in our local post office can't read.
Not too surprised that parcel post moved that quick. I'm sure they're trying to keep the warehouses up there clear so that when you get snowed in there'll be lots of space to store things until they can move them again.
I thought it would be so cool in the brackish tank, and it FINALLY finishes off that corner I've been so iffy about! Guppies have feeding frenzies, and since I just rinsed the shell off and didn't boil it there must have been lots of old microorganisms on it so they were hoovering the entire surface clean! 30-some guppy babies in lines just munching away. I got a few photos of it, but nothing good. I have a lot of trouble with refraction and reflection from that tank since there was so much damage to the glass surface when I got it.
If you ever get any more shells in the future, let me know, please! I'd love a few more. It really is awesome looking and we could never find anything close to that around here that would be aquarium or crab safe. Plus, natural untreated shells = very happy critters. Everything in the house knows that it tastes better when it comes from wolf.

That's so cool! I'm tempted to try isopods, just for a chance at a free slug..sophie anne wrote:hahaha! such a well travelled slug! his name is now Magellan.
