Large & Teeny's
Just curious to those owners who have/had Large or Jumbo's in the tank with teeny's and smalls....
Did you ever happen to notice that the largest of your crabs and the smallest of your crabs got along?
The past few days I have noticed that Bonnie and Bash are almost always together. They sleep together in the moss pit, they sit together on the log, she tried to sit on his shell the other day but fell off. He is my gentle giant and she is the only female in the tank and very hyper!
I'm tickled to death they became friends, no one's paired off exactly in my tank. Everyone seems to be loaners. Kinda sad.

YES YES YES!!!
My small Loki, and my large Goliath are ALWAYS together and they even eat with each other! Goliath JUST came up from a molt a few days ago, and Loki has been extremely happy ever since.
I wonder if this is common, or just a weird coincident??

Are your other 2 just like there? lol I mean my smalls are just like invisible or something and my other teeny too, like they don't care if they are with someone or alone.
When the timer turned the light on about 45 mins ago, it was the large and both teeny's that were out, both teeny's went up branches right after, but Bonnie was there with Bash.

So strange! You would think the large and jumbos would be the loaners!

Re: Large & Teeny's
I'v noticed lots of various pairings in my tank Including the viola "clique" (If one viola is out, the other two are nearby)
I haven't seen so many teeny/large pairings my big guys mostly walk across or mow over my littlest guys. Although I do see the little guys hovering around the big guys. I wonder if they're waiting for scraps? Or protection? Or trying to take survival cues from the older more experienced crab?

So strange how they have their little cliques huh. Stranger still, all of today (after posting this this morning) Sebastian has been in the shell shop with Toby and Bonnie and Clyde have been in the moss pit together. I think they wanna make a liar outta me or something lol Just like kids! Stinkers........

Re: Large & Teeny's
I dont know about other "colonies"- but I have noticed that size does not matter with mine. My smallest PP kicks it with the largest PP- I have a trillion pictures of the weeones snuggled up to the big ones- while I think species plays a bigger role- size really doesnt matter....kinda like a chihuahua and a great dane...Bridgitmac80 wrote:Just curious to those owners who have/had Large or Jumbo's in the tank with teeny's and smalls....

They do have their favorite friends though! They fight like siblings with just this other buddy- but at the end of the day- they be cool!

Re: Large & Teeny's
Ya know I hadn't really even factored in the whole species part of it all. Course, Bash and Bonnie act more like E's than PP's. But species could have something to do with it and either they are comfortable having Toby in their clique or they think they are E's!
Like your tank, everyone's cool with everyone in our tank. No fights just some rolling around and Toby did some bullying for shells but CM also went down for a molt the following day so could have been that too. Eh the world may never know!

My crabs have cliques... it's cute, but my poor B (my only stawberry) is pretty left out It doesn't help that he's huge and shy.
