Cute!!! Very nice crabs you got there.

I would think you've seen the mites in your predatory pack at least, did you try to see them on your spoon as you released them? They are very much big enough to see with just your eye.

And how do you know the mites were dead? Did you blow on them to see if they moved their legs? I think if you see dead mites, there's probably live ones hanging on tight or in the gill area. I don't understand how there could only be dead mites unless they are not crab mites.

When the crabs are dry, pick up one of the indo's and shine a flashlights back into it's shell, in the back, and along the sides where the opening is. Check as far back as you can see, sometimes they are so small you only see the movement when they run.

Good luck, I hope it was just dead ones and you're mite free!! Do give the preds some time to work though, there maybe eggs and they will get those for sure.

Dead because there was no movement I thought. There was a white one floating in the water when I bathed one Indo.
Even if they are mite free, I've released an entire a 1/4 litre in the ISO and will keep them for at least a week or two with baths and the preds, and I also released the preds in the main tank so I hope that takes care of it. I will check again like you said. They are not shy which is a good thing and they come out all the way. I also have an Indo that changed a shell and I checked it, it was free of parasites :D

I'm begging to wonder if indos modify their shells to make a head notch. :) One of mine came in shells that were notched that same way, but I haven't seen any do it to their new shells...so... I dunno. Maybe something for peeps to look out for when they get indos in! :D

I was just thinking that as well, only I've only seen that in smaller indos, never the big guys

Both my new Indos were in notched turbos. I just thought they were damaged shells, but you might be onto something.
