AWESOME! :)

May I use some of your pics for a thread in our german LHC forum?

And another question: did you write down what you did every day, what you feed and when you clean up or water change the tanks?
It wouold be great to have an owerview about the stages and the daily to do's. For other breedings experiments.

(and I would love to breed variabilis *sigh* :) )
Love sincerly,

Then if thats not enough the female that i knew had eggs deposited them on the sand & i busted other crabs eating them (eeek) i scooped as many as i could up (they were in 3 different places) and threw them in a kreisel so batch no. 3 are on the go, i don't know how many are going to be ok, probably saved half of them :-/

Lucky you @ eggs. We are waiting hardly for new eggs / larvae here in germany :)

feeding the little ones:
When my breedings started to leave water and explore land, they still got (de-)frozen mysis and (de-)frozen brine shrimps. And because I did not know when the megalopa will bury to metamorphose to LHC, I feed them with different fruits and watered crab pellets. Nearly same food the adults got.

The thread will be in our forum. http://www.landeinsiedlerkrebs-forum.de/
I will send you the link when I post the news about "successfull breeding of C. variabilis in Austalia" :)

if you could send larvae to germany *sigh*. It seems that variabilis are easier to breed, because of their short Zoea time. I hope you will have lots more mini "Aussie" Land Hermit Crab breedings in future :)

Just a quick question... Do your hermies like the shrimp delight or any other foods from there? Cause I got shells coming from there today :D and I was also thinking of getting some food too... What food do your crabs eat?

Yes thats where I get my shrimp from & i have daily delight so my hubby can feed for me if i need him too, mostly I make my own mixes for them, fruit & veg scraps from making tea or what ever I have at the time & a good variety but mostly mealworms, mealworm pupae, crickets, earth worms, fresh water shrimp, blood worms, brine shrimp, fresh fish & prawns, fresh meat & mince, crushed oyster shell, cuttlefish, egg shell, dried & fresh apple, paw paw, pineapple, avocado, watermelon, pear, banana (i only buy it for the crabs) rock melon, coconut, cucumber, carrot, puffed millet, puffed rice, puffed corn, fresh popcorn, cracked wheat, rolled oats, rice crumbs, psyllium husks, almond flakes, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, alfala seeds & all of these seeds i grow sprouts in worm castings so they get to graze on both (mostly they get totaled over night), soy linseed & almond meal, pepitas, cork bark, vine wood, sea weeds, tropical fish flakes & dried sea vegie flakes
