ok I guess I'll change my layout, I was going to have the pool right in front of the doors for easy access but I guess I'll put it to one side or the back. And what temperature did you keep your transition tanks, both of you?

You will need to have fresh water (I had salt as well) available, perhaps you could place these & food dishes there for perfect photo opportunities

haha that's true, I've been super focused on function first since I don't have a lot of spare time to look for stuff. I found some long tweezers today when buying more salt!

So I do have a bunch of zoea at the bottom of the jars, they do move around but look like they are trying to stay at the bottom or they are having trouble. I used the phytoplankton again and it made 3 jars super cloudy and 1 jar super clear. I have no idea what's going on there!!! The jars aren't as round as I'd like them to be, for the next eggs I may try to use some fish bowl style jars. I will hunt for them soon!

And I think the numbers of them are catching up to me, it's really hard to keep the water clean and remove waste when there's so many to try to avoid. And my jars being as small as they are and the zoea getting bigger is tough to navigate. And I can't tell how much they are really eating.

Then on top of all this, the next batch of eggs are due around the end of the month! I have no where to put them unless I work with even less jars next time. If only I could buy a good kreistel tank

You could always build one thats my plan, well to build several....... One day! I was always tinkering with them, infact I spent most of the day with them & most of the night watching, It was a constant battle keeping it clean enough, you can see in my megalopa pics that the water is not perfect. Ammonia was the biggest issue i had, if i stayed on top of that then no lethal build ups of ammonia then nitrites & nitrates. I used Ammo lock & 'dilution is the solution' water changes

Yes you can easily buy a piece of acrylic tube & cut to fit inside a small tank (ask your supplier what to use or they may even cut to size), silicone (the fish tank safe variety) & you have your kreisel.
Yeah Ive got my plan, for me... its having the spare cash to do it! & I dont want to do just one. & transition tanks & more growing tanks........

And we don't need to have a filtered tank with screen right? Or do you think that would still work with zoea?

I don't think curlz has a screen in hers with a filter system either, so I guess it wouldn't be that much work to setup for the next batch of eggs. I have a bunch of 10 gallon tanks around.

With variabilis it is not necessary
10's sound ideal! Or you could build numerous chambers in the one larger tank.

you mean spots where they get stuck because the flow isn't good enough? yes, badly

Thats it! Yes a lot of time spent adjusting the air flow & my funny shaped jars were actually not too bad compared to a straight up & down one

mine even has a bulb at the bottom that comes up a bit in the middle, it's causing a lot of problems.

So my 'counsel' for all of you, who are trying to build a kreisel:
There are many different was, to realise this. Like Curlz I did one (now two ) with an acrylic glass cylinder.
I also used some cookie boxes to build a kreisel-tank. This is one of the cheaper ways.

Small openings at the sides (later the topside opening ), some hot glue and a tube clued to the inside:


And I recently found a page, where someone described his kreiseltank for his batik crab larvae, which is build using a simple bucket. The page is in German, but maybe the pictures tell you enough: breeding Metasesarma obesum
Guess this is another way to build a cheap kreisel-tank.

By the way: I always headed the surrounding water, not the water inside the kreisel.
Temperature was 26-27°C ~ 79-80.5° F.
