I ended up just putting an air stone in a water dish, it raised my humidity from 20% to just over 50%! It's still low I know but I'm getting somewhere :)

Hi guys. I'm new here. Happy owner of four PPs. 2 medium-Large, 2 small. Love this thread b/c my love of crabbies is getting expensive. Built one of these last night. Can't post photo for some reason. Waiting until I get home today to see how well it helps. Thanks.

bundy wrote:Well, inspired by Cwaweeks :D I decided to go ahead and make myself and the crabbies a humidifier, as I have been struggling to keep humidity up (If I don't mist regulaly it can drop to as low as 40% :()

You will need:
1. Bottle/Jar with a sealed lid
2. Sponges
3. Airstone
4. Aquarium Tubing (mine is 5mm not sure in inches sorry)
5. Aquarium Pump (mine had 2 air outlets so I decided to have 2 tubes going in blowing bubbles)
6. Dechlor Water

Method:
So first of all I got the jar from kitchen with a screw on lid and gave it a good wash.

Then took the lid off and drilled the holes for aquarium tubing to go through (making sure they were a firm fit)

Cleaned the sponges and airstone, Filled the jar with dechlor water and chucked the sponges in.

Then pushed the 3 pieces of aquarium tubing through the the lid and put the airstone on the first tube and submerged it, nothing on the second tube and submerged it, and the third tube sitting in the jar not submerged at all (taking the humidity into the crabitat).

Here is a pic :D My humidity has already gone up by 15% in about 15-20 mins ;)

HTH anyone with humidity problems :) (hopefully it wasn't to confusing )

Edited by Christa to make a Sticky

I made the same thing but it has not helped my humidity at all, maybe others had better luck? lol

Has anyone ever tried a coffee warning plate? Causes the liquid to turn into steam. Stream is humidity.

I made one but I didn't use sponges and it's working fantastically it's a little loud but the constant humidity is fantastic, especially for my strawberries.
Thank you very much!

Can a plastic water bottle with the tube and air stone work? There is no kid but I thought it to be the same thing as a bubbler pool_just enclosed but it hasn't brought the humidity up. What may be wrong?

Okay, so I have one of these.

I put the airstone IN the jar? or in the tank?
I'm so confused...........

I thought I connect 1 tube from the pump to the humidifier, and then the other tube from the humidifier into the tank?

Where does the air stone come into play?

The airstone bubbles away inside the jar, which causes water vapors to make humid air, which gets forced out of the humidifier into the tank.

I made one of these but I think I need a stronger pump. It doesn't bubble much.
