My Crab Clan and Tat

Top view:

Moss pit and FW pool

Left side cave crawl through hide, next to lava rock, in front of SW pool.

I have a UVB lamp on during the day and a moon-glo for heat at night.

Hides: hut, coco-hut, cave rock thing, and under the shelf.
2 pieces of real cholla to climb plus fake cholla attached to shelf to climb to shell shop.

I have a cuddlebone stuck in the sub behind the cholla. I put food under shelf to provide cover but make it easy to access.

It looks kinda bare right now. I'm really disappointed that no one seems to like my net I made. I'm thinking about adding more plants. I have a bunch more of the spiky green plants that are on the bottom left of the shelf legs that I can use to create more cover.

Right now the only crab on the surface (that I can see) is Woody. I hope the others aren't hunting Mick!

Your old and new tanks look amazing! I love your creative use of dollar store totes for the water and the coated wire rack for a second level. Thanks so much for posting pics....I get so many great ideas!

They must love it. I never see them anymore, too many places to hide BUT in the morning the pools are full of Poo and the food's been trampled and decimated.

And Buzz shucked his old shell but I don't know which shell he took since I didnt count or pay attention to exactly which shells are out. Thinking maybe a Japanese Land Snail shell? (I don't see him anywhere right now.

Never mind, it's just an extra shell....panic over.

How CUTE! There's a mini volcanic island thing going on. Well done! And so much sub! Morning after poopy pools and stomped food is perfect. Great job! Happy crabbing!!

My temps are finally getting over 80 (they haven't been under 75 but the tank is taking a while to warm up) and I noticed my 2 larger PPs out all afternoon. So fun! My son decided Rex is Jessie 2 since the crab is female. We named Mom's crabs Bo Peep (the female E) and Rex (the PP who seemed not to like Mick).

Great! Crab gender changes are so funny. You know females can end up showing gongopores later on? Hope your krebs stay active and display lots of showmanship!

Well the 2 PPs are great. Buzz disappeared so I'm thinking molting again. He was checking out the shell shop and shells plus hanging out in the salt pool.

So Rex (now called Jessie) switched shells to a smaller Jade turbo and Woody took up Jessie's larger banded jade turbo. Woody pulls way back into the shell. It's funny to me. I'd say Woody is 1/2 the size of Jessie.

I know it's been like 2 months since I've been on, but my clan is doing great. My smaller E had a 3rd molt and finally changed shells. Now my 2 Es are both in tapestry shells. (I haven't collected the E and PP from my mom yet.)

I see 4 of my crabs regularly now. Woody and Jessie changed shells. Jessie took a jade turbo that's not banded and Woody took her old banded jade turbo.

I haven't seen Mick since he went subterranean. I hope we catch him topside soon..

Bullseye may have molted again, not sure, but he's not acting shy anymore, I catch him on the surface all the time now. Before this week, I was lucky if I saw him once a month after moving to the 40B.

This is Jessie traversing the screen before switching shells. Poor Jessie may have inadvertently been knocked off the screen when I opened it one day. She seemed to be no worse for the wear, but frightened me. (I think she dropped 1" to the top of a hut where she remained closed up in the shell until I went away.

Buzz (whom I sometimes call Zumbido) also before his shell change. This is one fast crab.

Such a cute pic of Buzz! Es look so much cuter in nerites, to me. They look like marble transformer crabs
