Hi! The only thing i can offer from my experience is that you don't actually need anything in advance. You can do the setup and transfer in one go, but it will be long and hard work to mix and dump the substrate. I recommend mixing and dumping sub the day before transfer. Everything else can be moved and started right before your transfer. Just make sure you prepare stuff to go in before these 2 days (sanitizing, customizing, layout, etc).

Thanks! :D I did a hot water soak with the shells, couple fake plants and this big wooden aquarium decoration I got with the tank after washing them. Rinsed in hot water after. I'll be doing a SW soak once I get some mix too.
I'm not sure what day I'll be getting them just yet. I'm afraid it'll be on a day I work (fiance is off work possibly permanent so someone will be home regardless) so would a few days, up to a week, before hand be okay? I just wouldn't put foods out.

If you are pre-wetting the sand to sandcastle consistency it should be good for a week and you can use saran wrap all around the tank to help keep humid. You can poke SOME holes for circulation.
If you're not pre-wetting it can sit dry virtually forever.

Sounds good! I'm going to get a plexiglass lid made (once I figure out where will cut it, not sure if Home Depot will but I'll be asking when I pick up the play sand) in two pieces. One full piece for the half without the terrarium, and then like a frame piece that I'm going to attach to the terrarium so it will sit on top.

I remember when looking for plexiglass that Lowe's would cut it for us but Home Depot wouldn't. Maybe it's a New Mexico thing, but I just thought I'd throw that out there! :-)

Thanks! I need to pick up play sand, which I believe both sell. I've sent my local Home Depot an email asking if they will cut it. If not, I'll be checking with Lowe's!

So, went through a bag of aquarium stuff that I cleaned out of the closet yesterday and found four pumps, a whole bunch of tubing, and two big air rocks. Tested and both work perfectly, plus one of the pumps has two hook ups and is very quiet. They need a washing, but I'm excited that I will have bubblers in both pools without spending a dime!

I've kept that stuff for years so am happy it is useful again heh I kept one other quiet pump and the other two went to Value Village with a bunch of other stuff cleaned out.
I was looking at the Lowe's website and didn't see actual sheets of plexiglass, but it might just not be online. There is also a pet store that sells custom made tanks, so I'm thinking even if I can just get the sizes I want at Home Depot, maybe they will do the cutting I need.
Will definitely have lots of pictures, but have also started a blog (link in my signature) and will be posting a lot on there too.

I'm so anxious to get working on this haha I have my eye on the perfect coffee table for sitting the tank on. I am so hoping it's still available when my taxes finally come! It's a bit longer than I originally wanted, but means I can upgrade the tank some before having to get a new table :D

THE TABLE IS MINE!!! Well, it will be tomorrow night or Sunday night (have a friend who's going to help me get it home). Can't wait! Fingers still crossed my taxes are in soon, especially since 3 out of the 4 hermies could be brought down on Tuesday if I can get everything set up by then.

Do you have the irs app? It is directly from them and gives you a date your funds will be deposited.
#1 rule of crabbing - crabs are weird.
#2 rule of crabbing - see above
