After molt behavior

Post by MeganM » Wed Apr 08, 2015 9:11 am

Yay!! Zenon is up from her first molt!!! (With me) its my first successful molt in my tank. Everyone else is still down... Her coloring has gone from pale cream to beautiful pink and purple AND she changed out of her horrid painted shell... However she was my most active outgoing crab. Always climbing and coming up to the glass before her 2 month stint and now she doesn't come out of her shell and if she is kind of sticking out and I walk past she completely goes back in!): I feel like we have gone completely backwards. Is this normal??

Sometimes, yes it can happen. I among many have had a crab's personality do a complete 180; its normal. You may notice over time that they "revert" back to their "normal" behaviour. :)
She is a very pretty coloured crab. Reminds me of a freshly moulted one with that pinkish tone.

I've found mine to be timid for a couple of weeks after a molt. They seem to have to get used to everything and everyone all over again when they come up. Hope she gets back to her old fun self for you soon!

Turns out that Zenon has gone back down, she has done this before for one a day so I'm not worried.. But Odin is back up! He went down the day I got him so I can't wait to get to know him. Idk if he molted or destressed. But either way idc! Oh happy day(:
