Looking for advice on humitity.

Post by KelseyDanger » Wed Apr 29, 2015 8:46 pm

Hello! I have a tank with a screen top, and I cover it with damp hand towels to keep the humidity levels high.

I am wanting to make something a little nicer looking than hand towels on the top.

Does anyone have a crafty way of keeping in humidity with their screen covers?

All advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I'm not sure what you could put on top, I think most do plexi glass or blankets. If you're in need of a more efficient way of keeping the humidity higher, you could add moss to your tank, eco earth also helps. If you can afford it, humidifiers are very helpful in keeping humidity up. You could try making one of these http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 39&t=26260 It seems that a lot of members haven't had luck with this, and end up going with a bubbler pool which keeps up humidity similarly to the humidifier.
Hope this helped :)

You could cover it with plexiglass. My lids are covered with aluminum foil and a cut up shower liner....not really too pretty to look at.

Like Calla, I cover my screen lids with foil. I cover the foil with colorful duct tape to make it less of an eyesore. Works great for holding in the humidity - I run humidifiers in both tanks. You could go with foil or something, then use duct tape or patterned/colored contact paper or just about anything to hide it :) Plexiglass would probably be easier, but if you use heat bulbs it can warp it.
