Getting Hot Glue off shell?
Getting Hot Glue off shell?
After my hermit crabs dumped their painted shells, I removed them from the tank, boiled them, and began getting the paint off so I could re-offer them to the hermies. However, one of the shells has some hot glue at the bottom. Does anyone know how to get this off?

I have an idea! Whenever I am working on a project using hot glue, if I press the tip of the hot glue gun (with glue not coming out it) it melts the already hard glue. Then while it is all melty, quickly scrape it off. You could try doing that. Hopefully it works.

I pop it off with a butter knife.

Re: Getting Hot Glue off shell?
Sometimes you can peel it off and boil the shell. If it is acrylic paint is generally peels away. Sometimes it is not possible to remove all traces of the paint.TheLocalCrabber wrote:How do you remove the paint?
