A mushroom appears to be growing

Post by HermitCrabRookie » Thu Aug 06, 2015 7:56 pm

Hello while looking in tat this evening I noticed there is a mushroom starting to grow. Is this ok or should it be removed?

They'll probably eat it. Should be fine :)

It actually should be removed. The kind that grow in tats aren't edible, and if it's allowed to set spore there will be many more. They are not harmful to the hermits, but they can be smelly and very unsightly, and if you have asthma (like me) it can cause problems.

Aaah! I didn't think about the spores. Good point. When in doubt, listen to Wodesorel, lol.

I get the funky white ones and the psychedelic yellow ones every spring and fall. Just cleaned a bunch out of the potted plant in my snake's tank tonight. They'e cute, but they wreck havoc on my allergies!
