I remember someone saying they didn't know the time for the surface molt and for people who look to this for help my experience is that it depends on the crab and surroundings. Hobostein took about 2 or 3 hours to molt (includes trying shells and looking for a good place to molt) after he molted it took him the same amout of time as a burried molter to recover. Carrots help with their exoskeleton color and strength SO much. I gave mine chopped baby carrots for a day or two before and after. I left the exoskeleton in the tank as told and he ate it as well. After he was done molting I put both crabs in a bath before putting them both back in the main tank. No fights have occurred and they are doing great. Thanks again for all your help everyone!
