He will probably completely bury himself, and the longest he could be down there is a month.

The odds of a hermitcrab being in the same spot we saw them dig down in are very small as hermitcrabs never stay in the same spot that they first go down in as its a defensive mechanism to make discovering where they are by predators and other crabs almost impossible.I know first molts are hard I've been where you are and even after twenty years of crabbing I still get antsy when a new addition decides its time to molt in my enclosure.Hermie may do the typical hermitcrab behavior of going down and coming up several times before she finds the sweet spot so don't be alarmed if you should happen to see her later tonight.

she has dug about 3-4 holes but she has never compleatly covered herself, thats kind y i really think this is it. im waiting on Sharky to go down now...now should i wait to bring Shell Shock in till they come up?? or would i still be ok to put him in on the 9th (after his 4 weeks of iso)

It would probably be safe to introduce shell shock after his four weeks are up provided that any molting hermits are completely and safely burrowed to prevent cannibalism.

It is always stressful when it's time for a first molt. And scary because it's the time they are most vulnerable. This is the time when we can't help them and must trust their innate hermit crabbiness to get them through! Try not to stress too much!
