I'm bringing my hermies to college. Any advice?
When I go to college this fall I have to bring my hermies with me. It's a four hour drive and there tank is a ten gallon. I have a 5.5 I could put them in for transport but I don't know if that's ideal especially since they burrow a lot. Any advice on how to transport these guys, where to put them in the room, etc. would be extremely helpful.

You do the 5.5 with just an inch of substrate to keep the humidity stable and that should be fine for the duration of the trip.As for where to put them, away from heaters/windows/ air-conditioning vents and up off the floor other than that use the space you have to try to fit them in.

I guess if they are buried when you are moving though just have someone help you move the whole 10 g tank at once with everything just take out food/water so it doesn't spill and make sure to support the bottom.

Good luck with your hermit crabs! My college doesn't let us have anything but a fish in the dorms, so I had to adopt my crabs out about two years ago before starting school, but it's cool that you will be able to take your crabs with you. Also good luck with college! It's a transition period for sure, but once you get used to it, you'll love it.

My college allowed "nothing but fish" but I brought my hermies anyway Nobody ever noticed since they were technically in a fish tank. At that point I had four small ones in a 10g, not ideal but they did okay. I always just picked up the tank and transported them in there because inevitably someone would always be buried. They never seemed to notice the traveling. When it was cold, I always made sure to warm up the car before bringing them outside and cover up the top of their tank with a blanket/towel for the quick walk from dorm room to car. They all did great and are still with me today.
