In due request of some people in different forums i'm on, I'm introducing to you guys my handfed captive owls; magpie, nightingale and cuckoo..This is them a couple of months back as babies starting to shed their down feathers off - December 1, 2013(Sorry 'bout the photo quality and the date stamp lol) Unfortunately, nightingale and cuckoo has been sold and now have their new respective masters. This is magpie now at 4 months, eating and hunting on her own - Again, sorry for the worse than poor quality. Took me a lot of courage just to zoom this in her face. She hates and will attack the camera at will. I almost died, you know?! LOL Hopefully, i could take new photos again when she's off guard

They are sooo cool/awesome and cute. How big will they get? How did you end up with them?

Adults will be as big as pigeons and prefers eating insects over vertebrate prey

So they look pretty much full size then. I had the pleasure of caring for a Great Horned owl when I was in my teens and volunteered at the local state park nature center. He was very cool much larger than the ones you have though. He would get baby chicks, mice, and scraps of deer meat. Considered a bird of prey, but he was hand raised by someone and couldn't find food for himself and relied on people to bring it to him.

Babies are too fluffy from all their down feathers giving them a bigger appearance plus their wings are mostly lifted all the time giving a more bigger look. Adults have their feathers flat against body plus they become more slender in shape and their wings are tightly tucked to the sides as well giving a compressed silhouette
