I lost Hashbrown today. :( I found her curled up in her box looking like she was still sleeping. I don't think she got past losing Bacon. :(

I love that bottom pic of her and Bacon. It's from about a year ago, Bacon was being bullied badly by Cheese and Twix (doesn't she look so sad and beat down in that pic?). I moved her to a separate tank with Hashbrown, since she was the nicest to Bacon. Hash was so sweet with her. They had the closest bond out of all the girls.

Cheeseburger seems to be doing ok. I've been on the look out for more girls ever since Bacon passed, and have a couple girls lined up to be picked up this week. Hopefully Cheese will continue to stay healthy all through the new girls' quarantine and beyond.

My best guess is she is at least around 20 months, maybe older. Bacon was around the same age. Twix and Hash were younger, Twix being maybe around 15-16 months when she died and Hash 16-17 months. After Bacon passed, Hashbrown became less active. She lost weight, like Cheese had after Twix but more. I kept up with offering warm, soft foods like I did for Cheese and spending more time with her. She was still eating, just not as much. I really thought she was going to pull through.

So sorry, CallaLily -- you and I have had a bad past two months with four of our ladies passing. Hope Cheeseburger holds on for the new girls to get through quarantine. In early summer 2014, I was down to two mice (from four) when I adopted a new trio and put them in quarantine. One week into quarantine, one of the remaining duo, Carmen, had a seizure and passed, leaving Tosca (the alpha mouse) alone; sadly, she was unable to cope with being alone and passed when the trio still had nine days to go in quarantine. Keeping my fingers crossed for Cheeseburger.

Thank you, guys. Crabinski, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having a bad few months too. :(

I wanted to introduce you guys to my two new cuties. :D :love5:

They are so so sweet. They're about 5 weeks old and sisters. I originally wanted 3 girls, but out of the 13 in the litter, 8 were boys. Of the 5 girls, two were already promised to someone and one was needed to stay and keep mama company. All but two of the babies are this coloring (agouti I believe), the other two are black. Mama is PEW.

Right away I see the difference between babies brought up in a loving home and poor pet shop mice. From first they met me they were climbing all over my arms! Here I was expecting to go through weeks of taming like I had with my other girls.

At first I couldn't see how to tell them apart easily. I mean their faces are shaped a little differently, but that's hard when they're not side by side. But I noticed yesterday that the very, very tip of Rina's (rhymes with Tina. Hebrew, means joy) tail is pink! Celyn's (pronounced with a hard C, rhymes with ellen. Welsh, means holly) tail is dark all the way down. They have 3 weeks in quarantine but are doing beautifully so far. :D

Just to make sure they're not sick or bug infested before I introduce them to Cheeseburger.

Ok, so my last mousey addition for a while. Meet Seren!

Image

She has "wheel tail" but hopefully that will get better now that she has a proper wheel. My group of girls is complete! (once quarantine is up)

Seren (seh-REN) is Welsh and means star. Thought it fit the new theme nicely. :)

What is wheel tail? I had a prairie dog named Kira with "cage head" from where she was rubbing it on her cage chewing on the bars. She could not deal with me being in the room yet not holding her. Lol

Edit: This is her the day I got her. I was 16. She passed away when I was 21 or 22.

And one of her and my rabbit. He also passed years ago.
