weird molting. .

Post by cro » Wed Jun 17, 2020 6:42 am

My hermit crab is so weird thses days.
She's been living with me about 11years.
She even molts once a month. It's already been five months.
she's never done that before like this.
She did it every six months. I'm very worried about it
And there's a little spot on my hermit crab leg.
Is there something disease with her..?she's my family..what should I do.

Just to clarify a couple of things.
Is she under the substrate? And she has been for 5 months?

It's already been five months since she started doing it(molting) once a month. (Since.2020) And she's done it once every six months before that.(before 2020)
I’ve seen a drastic change in behavior/activity.
I'm sorry my english is not perfect. And I'm not sure what does "substrate" mean. If that means flooring, yes.

Substrate is the sand and/ or coco fiber that you have for them to dig in.
Is she digging under the sand and staying there for a while? Or is she molting where you can see her?

Yes she is digging under the coco fiber.I'm afraid she has to molt again. She came up on May 31st from coco fiber.

and I can see her if I look at the bottom of the tank,
I can lift the(glass) tank.

You really shouldn't lift the tank. You can collapse molting caves which would cause the hermit crab to suffocate.
