Make sure you place the uth on the back or sides of the tank above the substrate line. The goal is to heat the air.

Alright! I think I'm gonna add a little bit more sand, I'm not good with measurements and it can't hurt to add more, right?

You can def add more if you want. It gives them more molting/digging room.

Ooo! Have you left a link for a busy box yet?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, I have! But as CL77 said, it's not the original product! CL77 added a link to the shop that makes the original boxes! They are currently closed, but as stated before they reopen soon!

I'm fairly certain you don't have to, but I do. It's just a habit to dechlor all my water. Is your substrate moistened to sand castle consistency with dechlor fresh or salt water? Also, what kind of lid do you have. I use glass lids which keeps moisture in really well, and I never have to mist. You can also use a mesh screen lid and wrap it all in saran wrap.

I use dechlorinated water to mist as well!

Alright, you said I can moisten the sand with RO water though right? (that's what I did)

Also, yet another question. I apologize again.
My current iso tank is the carrying case that I got from the shop I got my crabs from (the crappy gift shop at the beach) I just make sure to mist it and keep it in my room where the temp is the same, it's small but is that okay since I only have them in there for a little while?

If you do have to iso a crab so it can molt (for whatever reason) you could put it in a tubbarware with some sub in it, water dishes, and food! You can poke holes in the top of it and put it in ur main habitat so that way it has the same humidity and heat! I have heard of many crabbers doing this in the past!

Sorry about all the questions, but can I moisten the substrate with RO water or does it have to be dechlorinated/primed water?
(also, dechlorinated water is the same as primed water right? prime is just the brand?)
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, Prime is just the most commonly used brand of dechlorinated used for hermit crabs, and prime is a lot shorter to say the dechlorinator!

No, not at all. I only spray it like once a month.

That should be perfectly fine tho! /gen Just don't go spraying the lid of the substrate, please!

I just moistened my sub to sand castle consistency, I used RO water, not dechlorinated water, That's okay right? I figured it would be since RO water is safe for crabs it just doesn't give them the right nutrients for their drinking water, but I'd like someone to confirm that theory lol

Hey! I just moistened my sub, I'm worried it's not moist enough. I've got a lot of sand in there but i had to add in like 3 bottles of RO water.

Tip: If have a crab tunneling / down molting and your substrate is too dry, it is important to make sure that is is sand castle constancy! If you are worried about it, you can gently put some dechlorinated water around the sides of the tank (into the substrate), it will soak inwards and mosten the substrate making it closer to sand castle constancy! Do it slowly so you don't flood the tank. To check for flooding, take something and gently push it all the way to the bottom of the tank (in a corner so you don't hot a crab, preferably something small), and if you don't see water pooling at the bottom, ur good to go!
